Bush!!!

Three mini-posts - about Bush's visit to Abu Dhabi - for the price of a large one! A bargain!

Bush
1

In a speech he said: "In a free and just society, every person is treated with dignity"

" DIGNITY" Guantanamo? Abu Ghraib? Waterboarding? Extraordinary rendition?

And there was I thinking these were all stains on the good name of the USA. Silly old me!!!

Is the man a fool?

Bush 2

In the same speech he said: "And in this fight [against the forces of extremism] our nations have a weapon more powerful than bombs or bullets. It is the desire for freedom and justice written into our hearts by Almighty God - and no terrorist or tyrant can take that away."

Whether he meant this or not, this will be read as "my (Bush's) Christian God will defeat your God".

Is the man a fool?

Bush 3

Transcript from interview with Bush in Middle East

Interviewer: "Do you think that the amount of baggage you carry to this region will limit your progress?"

Bush: "Hell, no! Airforce One can carry tons of luggage."

Is the man a fool?

  2. It is unbelievable that the American People have not risen up and ousted Bush through our constitutional impeachment process. His actions have been criminal and his words are utterly moronic. I am ashamed every time this man opens his mouth. I can only guess what the world thinks of the United States. And, that is what makes it especially important to let the world know that a majority of American citizens despise this man.

  3. You don't have to say this three times for it to be true.

  4. I love these bargain deals and quite to the point.

  5. The third one isn't really true is it?

You're right. I made up the last one. Well done.

  7. Aw, shame! But it could have been!

  8. There does seem to be a fool in this post :) but it's not W

kevin: what criminal actions has he done? Be specific, since you are so convinced, let's hear them.

Frankly, most of the US doesn't actually care what the world thinks of us :)

  9. Welcome VM or LN

Different name but same view. Assume that you are LN. If so why the name change? If not where is LN?

"Frankly, most of the US doesn't actually care what the world thinks of us"

I assume there has been a poll of some sort which supports your assertion.

This isn't a trait of which to be proud. It is this which allows the US to act in total self-interest without regard for other nations and other peoples.

I assume you had this same view when Bill Clinton was President and will still have this view next year with another Democrat President in place. If you did and will do then I will acknolwedge your consistency, at least. If not then I will see your view as being simply a partisan Republican statement.

  10. Changed to the real name long ago, you've been by a few times since then...

I had that view since roughly I was able to have a view. The President doesn't affect the way I think about the rest of the world and how anti-American or not it is.

Since we (the US) give more money to the world, help more of the world in need than any other country, I'll take the anti-American sentiments for what they are worth... not much.

I didn't know if you had taken a back seat on the Daily Ramble and that VM was someone else. I should have checked earlier.

Please don't take very strong disagreement with the policies and actions of the current US administration as being necessarily anti-American. Mine certainly are not anti-US. I may strongly disagree with the actions of any UK government without being anti-UK. Same goes for any other country.

Where I think anti-Americanism can arise is where a "people" feel so adversely affected by US actions and have no way of getting relief. Where this anti-Americanism arises is the feeding place for extremism and attacks on US people and property follow. Obviously what we are seeing in the Middle East and elsewhere including the UK is some who are unaffected directly but who see themselves as close to those affected through, for example, religion, country of origin, race. Again extreme acts can follow.

  12. No, just changed the name :)

extremism does NOT arise from policies that idiots and terrorists do not like, it arises from within

You may not be anti-American Calum, but you're close :)

"You may not be anti-American Calum, but you're close"

Sorry, VM this has to be said, "You are talking absolute bullshit".

That I disagree utterly with policies of the US government is NOT anti-American or even close to that. If the rules are that one must agree with, and support, all policies of the US government or be anti-American then what you want for the US is a dictatorship. Do not think for yourself. Think only what your master thinks for you.

VM, this isn't the US that you want.

The bottom line is that Bush is still a dangereous fool. I really shouldn't have posted originlly about Bush because taking the piss out of him is like taking candy of a wean.

  14. Correct me if I'm wrong here Calum, but am I not entitled to my opinion of what I think you are writing? As an American I feel (heh) that you are close to anti-American. I'd say it if Bubba was still President and you wrote the same utter bullshit you wrote this time.

I could care less if you support or agree with ANY of the policies, the fact that you cannot disagree without belittling the person to whom you disagree shows what you feel more than any post you could possible put out here.

You didn't simply disagree with a policy, you decided in your holier-than-thou writing to espouse the person that leads my country. No one tells me what to think, you should realize that :)

Do you honestly think I don't 'think for myself'? Truly?

  15. VM

I did not say, nor even imply, that you didn't think for yourself.

I think I am entitled to demean and rubbish your President whoever may be in that post as I am entitled to demean and rubbish any other person. This does not mean that I am anti-American, it does mean I am anti-this President.

It was not anti-British to demean and rubbish Blair. It was anti-Blair.

  16. "" DIGNITY" Guantanamo? Abu Ghraib? Waterboarding? Extraordinary rendition?

And there was I thinking these were all stains on the good name of the USA. Silly old me!!!"

You realize that W had nothing to do with this? America did, no?

"If the rules are that one must agree with, and support, all policies of the US government or be anti-American then what you want for the US is a dictatorship. Do not think for yourself. Think only what your master thinks for you."

Implied (to me) that I didn't think for myself.

And you still blame extremism on the U.S. and it's 'me-first' policies without acknowledging that in-fact the U.S. supports most of the freaking world and without our aid, most of the world would be bankrupt and hungry.

    :) Have a good week

    I give up!

    Believe what you will!

I know what I wrote and what I meant. What you take out of it I have no control over.
