A brief evening visit to Birnam, near Dunkeld, brought me as close to Macbeth as I’m ever likely to be.
Shakespeare and I were never close friends at school: he was dry, boring and difficult to understand. “(N)ever close friends”? I hated him! No amount of telling me that he was a genius was sufficient for me to allow him into my circle.
But last night I laughed so much at Mr and Mrs Macbeth.
Thank you, Will, for yielding this brilliant cutting.

A satirical parody of 'that play' based on a character like Alan B'stard could be side splitting - otherwise the laughs are very few. Yet Shakespeare was reputed to be a comic actor at the time of his visit to Birnham Wood.
Orson Welles gave a memorable performance on film which is well worth watching if you once laboured over the read, Calum.
You should check out the music afternoons and evenings at The Taybank pub in Dunkeld. Your kind of thing, I expect www.thetaybank.com
