Music in the Morning - Monday

A long but fabulous piece.

Barber: Adagio for Strings Op 11             BBC Orchestra

UPDATE @ 29 Sept 2010: The video originally posted – LA Philharmonic conducted by Bernstein is no longer available in the UK and so I replaced it.

Somberly suits a rainy Monday. You cannot help but make association with Diana's funeral.

I can. I didn't know until I read the video blurb that it was played at her funeral.

I wasn't involved in the apparent national mourning.

Bagpipes are best played at funerals, Calum. The deceased won't hear but the folk he never liked will.

This has a another connotation for me than with Diana. Victor Hugo said it best: "Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to be silent."
