A long but fabulous piece.
Barber: Adagio for Strings Op 11 BBC Orchestra
UPDATE @ 29 Sept 2010: The video originally posted – LA Philharmonic conducted by Bernstein is no longer available in the UK and so I replaced it.
Somberly suits a rainy Monday. You cannot help but make association with Diana's funeral.
I can. I didn't know until I read the video blurb that it was played at her funeral.I wasn't involved in the apparent national mourning.
Bagpipes are best played at funerals, Calum. The deceased won't hear but the folk he never liked will.
This has a another connotation for me than with Diana. Victor Hugo said it best: "Music expresses that which cannot be said, and on which it is impossible to be silent."
